Why Genesys?

Ascension Genesys Hospital has been a good choice for residency for a variety of reasons.  It is large enough to offer a nice mix of rotation experiences, the culture of teaching is supportive, and the preceptors are knowledgeable. A specific opportunity that attracted me to Genesys is the heart failure clinic, which I have learned also fits nicely with the heart failure medication counseling and reconciliation that we do inpatient and allows a fuller picture of the care for that patient population.

Why Genesys?

The program at Genesys first caught my eye because it had an emergency medicine rotation. With my interest in this pharmacy practice setting, it was very important that there was a strong ED rotation. The ED preceptor was trained in prestigious institutions for his PGY1 & PGY2 so that gave me confidence that I would have an outstanding experience. It was also a decent sized hospital with a Level II trauma designation. I liked that this program was constantly improving, noticed by the increase in resident numbers and the addition of the HSPAL program. I've also heard great things about the preceptor group which I have found to be true early on in my residency training.

Why Genesys?

I had many opportunities with Genesys through my fourth year APPE rotations. There were a wide variety of activities such as hosting a vaccination clinic at the outpatient pharmacy and being able to watch an open heart surgery. Through my time at Genesys as an APPE student I formed professional relationships that were the foundation of my new career. I applied to the residency program at Genesys because the pharmacy team here is experienced with teaching and is able to push learners to practice at the top of their license and become an invaluable member to the healthcare team. I have full confidence that by the end of my PGY1 residency program I will be an efficient practitioner with a wide variety of experiences under my belt.
