Undergraduate Medical Education
The Genesys Undergraduate Medical Education Department hosts hundreds of medical students each year as they prepare for residency. Having major teaching affiliations with Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Genesys accepts base students from both MSUCOM and KCOM. Auditioning and elective students come from medical schools all over to participate in our accredited programs and to work with our residents, fellows and attendings.
Graduate Medical Education
The Genesys Graduate Medical Education Department is comprised of seven residency programs and 5 fellowship programs with an annual average total of 165 trainees. Offering top-notch training and hands-on preparation for a successful medical career, Genesys is a leader in medical education within Genesee County.
Continuing Medical Education
Genesys offers a robust schedule of programs and lectures that provide CME credits. Approved by the Michigan State Medical Society and accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, our programs offer high-quality education to meet the needs of our physicians and the surrounding community.
The Genesys Medical Library has approximately 1600 books and 360 journals. We currently subscribe to just over 70 journals in print. Some journals are kept in paper form in the library for five years. We have access to archived and current full text journals available via the internet and specific databases, such as Ovid, and MD Consult. The Genesys Medical Library is open 24 hours with badge access. The Library computer lab (internet access), photocopying, and book check-out are also available 24/7. We participate in the Docline interlibrary loan system.
Genesys | Ascension provides EMS and employee educational programs to better the quality of care delivered in the prehospital and hospital settings within our communities and hospitals around Mid-Michigan. “Our mission is to provide the highest quality education to all healthcare professionals.
